Drake Bay, Costa Rica

Drake Bay - Gateway to Costa Rica'sdrake bay a sustainable relationship with natural wonders beach Osa Peninsula!

Drake Bay, located on the Northern end of the Osa Peninsula, in the province of Puntarenas. While it is a popular destination, it is a difficult place to get to in Costa Rica. Its name, often a topic of conversation, comes from the one who discovered it in 1579, Sir Francis Drake. This is a small community where nothing much happens, also recognized as one of the most beautiful regions of the world! Corcovado and Osa undeniably have the most beautiful Beaches of Costa Rica. To reach Drake Bay, you need to take a boat trip.

Osa Peninsula and Corcovado National Park

The Osa Peninsula and the Corcovado National Park are the most treasured region of Costa Rica. This area has more concentration of flora and fauna than anywhere else in Costa Rica and is one of the world's wonders. Because it used to be an island, many species developed independently thus making them unique. Corcovado is the tallest rainforest in the world with many rare and endangered species of animals, and plants. It is a real treat to be able to visit this region, a wonder of the South Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.

There are tons of Tours and activities to do in this magnificent place. Its gorgeous landscape looks almost too beautiful to be real. This is where you can swim alongside dolphins and go on a whale-watching trip. Horseback riding, sports fishing, and mesmerizing hiking are all on the agenda. While the forest and beaches of the Corcovado National Park offer unlimited beauty, the marine life is no less fascinating.  Snorkeling and scuba diving are great, and you can experience the joy of swimming amongst beautiful colorful fish. Because of its remote location, the communication in Drake Bay is very limited, and you must take this into account; the signal for cell phones is often poor, and many people communicate via radiophones or shortwave.

A Lost Paradise On Earth

You will take strolls along the most beautiful Beaches of Costa Rica, amongst the highest density of wildlife. This is a place where nothing has changed for eons, and you will feel privileged to witness nature's spectacle! There are a wide variety of picturesque Hotels in Drake Bay Costa Rica to choose from, most of which offer "all-inclusive packages" since accommodations, tours, meals and some transportation included.   They offer packages with pick up services by boat from one of the neighboring towns. All magnificently located with views over the ocean, surrounded by lush vegetation and wild animals and brightly colored birds.

Drake Bay: A Gateway to Corcovado National Park

As a destination, drake bay a sustainable relationship with natural wonders birdDrake Bay is off the beaten path where naturalist explorers and marine life lovers find their ideals as they indulge into Costa Rica's finest natural wonders. Getting to this remote corner of Costa Rica to reach Corcovado and the Osa Peninsula is an adventure in itself. The most practical way of reaching this area is by flight. Although the way mostly used is by catching a boat in Sierpe that will drift down some impressive coastal wetlands and spill into the ocean neighboring Drake Bay.

Walking trails in the jungles of Corcovado National Park can take up many hours, even whole days. As a result, Drake Bay is fortunate to be on the side of Corcovado with rivers that facilitate easy navigation into its pristine green depths. Wildlife sightings in the park can include all four Costa Rican monkey species. Possibly, half of Costa Rica's flora and fauna species may live there.

Great Diving and Whale Watching at Del Caño Islanddrake bay a sustainable relationship with natural wonders buteogallus

A prominent island named Del Caño protrudes over the open ocean horizon. It lures guests towards her gorgeous underwater habitats sought out by scuba divers and snorkelers. Scuba divers will find plenty of coral species around the island. Also, eleven different species of octocoral with mackerel shoals, tuna, manta rays, Pan-tropical spotted dolphins, white tip reef sharks and more marine diversity than one can count.

Closer to shore, snorkeling along Del Caño's beach is fun. There's also a quiet trail leading to an incredible viewpoint and one of Costa Rica's world famous pre-Columbian spheres neatly tucked away in the jungle. The best months for humpback whale sightings are September and October, and December through April.
