Costa Rica Pacific Coast is easily accessible from the capital city of San José. The newly built highway can take you through beautiful countryside from the town to the coast in just over an hour. This area is characterized by its’ small coastal villages and several well-developed resort areas. It's mixed with palm plantations that stretch down the length of the coastline. Also, there are several beach towns that are popular with visitors to the area including Jacó Beach, Esterillos, Manuel Antonio and Dominical among others.

The “World Surfing Championship was held in Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica back in August 2009. Esterillos, a bit farther down the coast also offers a less crowded surfing destination for more experienced surfers. Continue down the coast past Manuel Antonio, and you’ll find the legendary Dominical – and off the beaten path destination offering high and consistent waves year round.

Activities and Natural Attractions on Costa Rica Pacific Coast

If surfs not your thing, there are plenty of other activities that are available to the visitor on Costa Rica’s Central Pacific Coast. Play a round of golf at Costa Rica’s Legendary “Los Sueños Course” at the Marriott. Hire a charter boat off the marina and go fishing and perhaps catch a marlin, sailfish, tuna, wahoo among others. Families love to take a ride through the rainforest on the aerial tram. Fly through the treetops on a canopy tour, or explore the ocean snorkeling off a catamaran. There are several national parks and reserves in the area, including the Manuel Antonio & Carara National Parks, the Nayuaca Waterfalls among others.
